If you’ve ever Googled this, you’ll find a thousand different answers: within 10 days, within 3 weeks, once they’re sleeping through (eek, this one might take some time). The truth is — there isn’t just one right answer. It really depends on what you want to remember.

Those early days, when your baby is brand new, squishy, and folds into your chest like they’ve never known anywhere else — that’s a special kind of magic. But I also know what those days really feel like: sore bodies, no sleep, figuring out feeding, and the kind of brain fog that makes you put your car keys in the fridge. Sometimes inviting someone in with a camera feels like too much, and that’s okay.

A little later, around six to eight weeks, you start getting smiles, chubby cheeks, and a glimpse of their little personality. And by three months, you’ll often have wide-eyed stares, giggles, and maybe even a hand-chew or two. Each stage is beautiful in its own way — it’s less about the “perfect window” and more about choosing the moments you most want to hold onto.

For me, that’s the heart of newborn photography — not perfection, but presence. I believe every stage tells a different story, and whichever one you choose to capture will be the right one. Book in your own newborn photoshoot here.
